I don’t really even have to say anything. Do I? Could we end this post right here, right now, and everyone would be clear as to why this man is the perfect nontraditional Prince Charming?
Series/Book/Movie: The Notebook
Who He Loved: Allie Hamilton
“So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me… everyday.”
I’m not sure if you’re aware of it, but the entire world flooded about ten years ago from the tears of every woman in creation. From our water graves, we arose a changed species. We desired devotion. Those days were bleak for many, and all men realized that a new standard had been set…one they didn’t have a chance to meet.
Noah fell in love with Allie at first sight. He was determined to win her over and once he did, even more determined to not let her go. Everything was against them. Her family, their friends, the entire freaking world…it just wasn’t in their stars. But that wasn’t good enough for Noah. He made something of himself and bought their dream house. Slowly, year after year, he rehabilitated it. Did he have any clue if he’d even have the chance to win Allie back over again? Absolutely not. But he restored that old house regardless. He knew that if he could do it, he could win her back, too.
I’m not a huge Nicholas Sparks fan but this story gives my heartstrings a painful, longing yank. Noah might be rash and unpredictable, but my goodness is he ever determined. The amount of pure faith he placed in himself (and in a way, Allie) is awe-inspiring.
If the devoted Prince Charming is what you’re looking for, you need look no further than Noah Calhoun.
